Mark's going to have a bad day.
So I've been working on this little project between the usual - studying, writing, designing, playing Witcher 2 - and we've finally got a couple of pictures to show for it.
As far as I'm aware (I've looked, but not too hard), this is the first of it's kind, which is quite exciting and will take all of our combined awesome. It's a photographic novel, or a comic book with edited photos instead of hand-drawn art; obviously, it's still sequential art, but I wouldn't call it an actual comic book.
It's called
Mark's Bad DayIt follows Mark, an industrial saboteur, during 8 hours of a very bad day. In dire financial straits, he breaks his ethical code and agrees to have an investigative reporter film him going on a high-risk job to bust a missing person from a research facility, where his client believes horrific experiments are taking place. Hilarity ensues.
In the spiritual tradition of Cloverfield, Rec, and Blaire Witch Project, it's done documentary-style: everything from the perspective of the reporter's "eyepatch" camera rig. Unlike those movies, it'll be next to impossible to get motion sickness.
Unlike my last comic book project, which sortof died at the gate, this is going along at a consistent rate, which is relieving. This time, I mean srs bsns.
We're still unsure how to bring it out into the open, but I see these as our options...
- Post each page on its own deviantART account...
- Submit it to SmashBooks...
- Create an iOS app for it (which I'm currently learning to do)
Hm.
Stay tuned for more screen tests and a teaser page.
